The following test uses EvalScript to verify that the document URL is actually an authorised URL, and not from some other server. The test itself should be immune to every attack, but unfortunately it does not work in any browser except IE for Windows.
However, since IE for Windows accounts for about 90% of all browsers in general use, use of this technique should make it impossible for another website to effectively link to the movie in an unauthorised way, because most of their visitors will not gain access.
The only potential pitfall with this approach is if it should turn out to cause a serious compatability problem with a browser other than IE for Windows. At this time, no such problems are known, but that must be subject to additional testing. In theory, the technique should fail gracefully on incompatible browsers and simply allow the movie to be played without any problems.
